Music License Terms

The exact scope of a purchase is defined by these terms, the selected license and the project details shown on its certificate.

1. Agreement and eligibility

By accessing Yummy Sounds or purchasing a license, you agree to these Terms and Conditions. Browsing and previewing the catalogue is free. A license is required before music is used in any published, distributed or commercial project.

2. General license grant

Each purchased license grants the named licensee a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to synchronize one selected music track with the project, channel, production or campaign identified on the license certificate.

Copyright and ownership remain with Yummy Sounds and the respective rights holder. A purchase does not transfer ownership, authorship or publishing rights in the music.

Unless a license says otherwise, permitted use is worldwide and perpetual. Paid-media rights may be limited by the term and media-spend threshold of the selected license. A separate project, client, brand, campaign, season or production requires a separate license unless an individual written agreement states otherwise.

3. Included edits and supplied versions

The licensee may shorten, cut, loop and fade the track; adjust its length; add voiceover, dialogue and sound effects; and create cutdowns, alternate aspect ratios, translated or dubbed versions, and platform-specific adaptations within the licensed project.

Instrumental or alternate versions supplied by Yummy Sounds may be used within the same licensed scope. These changes do not create ownership rights or a new musical work. Stems and substantial custom music edits are only included when expressly purchased or agreed in writing.

4. Creator License

For an individual creator publishing under their own name or creator brand. It covers one track on one named creator channel, podcast or recurring content series, including multiple episodes or uploads belonging to that same channel or series.

Included: YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Twitch and similar platforms; personal websites and portfolios; one named podcast or series; organic publishing; platform-ad monetization; donations, memberships and creator subscriptions.

Not included: client work; company-owned or commissioned content; sponsored or branded content; third-party influencer campaigns; paid advertising or promoted posts; film, television, games, apps or broadcast. A different creator brand, channel, podcast or series requires a new license.

5. Business License

For freelancers, agencies, companies and professionals creating one defined project or campaign for one named client, employer or brand.

Included: client and company videos; corporate films; website and landing-page videos; organic company social media; product videos and explainers; presentations and internal communications; sponsored or branded creator content; and paid social, display or online video advertising with total media spend up to $10,000.

The finished project may be delivered to the named client. It may include short and long edits, social cutdowns, alternate aspect ratios, translated or dubbed versions, platform adaptations and minor updates to that same project.

Not included: unrelated projects; another client or brand; media spend above $10,000; TV or radio broadcast; cinema or out-of-home advertising; films, series, games, apps or software; or standalone music use.

6. Film & Production License

For one named independent audiovisual production with a total production budget up to $500,000: one standalone film, documentary, short film or one named season of a series.

Included: independent films, documentaries, web series, one series season, student productions, festival screenings, web and social promotion, trailers, teasers, promotional cutdowns, and digital or VOD distribution. The track may appear multiple times within the production and its included promotional materials.

Not included: budgets above $500,000; commissioned national or international television; major streaming originals; large-scale theatrical distribution; third-party advertising; games, apps or software; or a separate film, season, sequel, spin-off or production.

7. Campaign and Campaign Plus Licenses

For one track in one named paid digital advertising campaign for one brand. Worldwide digital distribution is permitted for 12 months from the first public campaign launch.

Included digital media: paid social; promoted or boosted posts; YouTube pre-roll and online video; display advertising; digital influencer amplification; online campaign landing pages; and campaign-owned social and website placements.

The same campaign may use different durations, cutdowns, formats, aspect ratios, language or subtitle versions, platform adaptations, and multiple advertisements promoting the same product, service or campaign concept.

  • Campaign: total media spend up to $50,000.
  • Campaign Plus: total media spend up to $250,000.
  • Above $250,000: Custom License required.

“Media spend” is the total gross amount spent by or for the brand to purchase, boost or distribute advertising containing the licensed music. Agency fees, production costs and creative fees are excluded unless directly used to purchase advertising distribution.

Content published on the brand’s owned channels during the term may remain available after 12 months. Any further paid promotion requires renewal or extension.

Not included: television or radio; cinema; out-of-home advertising, billboards or public screens; multiple brands; unrelated campaign concepts; spend above the purchased threshold; games, apps or interactive products.

8. Custom License

A Custom License is required when a project falls outside the standard licenses. The price, territory, duration, media and other rights are set out in an individual written agreement.

This includes TV and radio broadcast or advertising; cinema and out-of-home advertising; major theatrical films and streaming productions; production budgets above $500,000; digital campaigns above $250,000 media spend; games, apps and software; physical products or devices; multiple brands, projects, seasons or productions; all-media buyouts; custom compositions; and substantial music edits.

Request a custom quote before using the music in any of these ways.

9. General restrictions

No license permits the customer to:

  • claim ownership or authorship of the music, or register it with Content ID;
  • upload, release, resell, sublicense or redistribute the music as standalone audio, including through music services;
  • include the music in stock-media templates or provide original music files to third parties outside the licensed project;
  • use the music for AI training or datasets, or create a new song primarily derived from it;
  • use the music in unlawful, hateful, discriminatory or otherwise harmful content.

10. Content ID and public performance

A license certificate is supplied as proof of authorized use. If a platform generates a Content ID claim, the licensee may submit the certificate through that platform’s dispute or clearance process. Yummy Sounds will provide reasonable assistance with eligible claims but cannot guarantee a platform’s response time or final decision.

Some tracks may be registered with performing-rights organizations. Broadcasters, venues or distributors may need to submit cue sheets or obtain public-performance coverage under local law. The synchronization license does not replace those obligations.

11. Delivery, previews and final sale

After payment, the customer receives the clean WAV master, a clean MP3 and a license certificate. Preview files may contain an audible watermark and are for evaluation only; they may not be published, distributed or altered to remove the watermark.

Because licensed files are digital and available for immediate delivery, sales are final once the purchase is completed, except where mandatory consumer law provides otherwise.

12. Liability and governing law

The licensee is responsible for using music within the purchased scope and agrees to hold Yummy Sounds harmless from claims, damages or expenses caused by use outside that scope.

These terms are governed by German law. Mandatory consumer protections and legally required places of jurisdiction remain unaffected.

13. Changes and privacy

We may update these terms for future purchases. The terms and license scope recorded at the time of purchase continue to govern that purchase. Please read our Privacy Policy for information about personal data.
